About Mini Marathon

A mini marathon usually covers a distance of 5 km or 10 km and is a test of endurance and the running skills of the participants. We, at Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology, with this mini marathon as an effective tool, pride ourselves in creating the necessary awareness and sensitivity to social ills amongst our community. Last year (2018), the theme was “Avoid Plastics.” Former Mayor of Chennai Corporation and MLA of Saidapet Constituency, Mr. M. Subramanian, led the runners in the track. This year, we have an equally enthusiastic and esteemed Chief Guest in Dr. C. Sylendra Babu, IPS., who stands with us in promoting “Digital Learning in Schools”.Mini Marathon 2019 will take place in Elliot’s Beach, Besant Nagar, Chennai., on Sunday, 14th July, 2019. About the Chief Guest

Dr. C. Sylendra Babu (born June 5, 1962) is an Indian Police Service Officer of the 1987 batch belonging to the Tamil nadu cadre. He is serving as the Director General of Police of the Railways (GRP) ,Tamil nadu . He holds a PhD in Criminology from the University of Madras. He is a voracious reader, motivational speaker and an avid fitness enthusiast.

FAQ

Mini Marathon 2019 will be held on 14th July, 2019, and is being organized by Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology.

There are two separate categories : a) 5 km and b) 10 km. Participants may take part in any one category.

There is absolutely NO registration fee! Just register, and contribute to raising awareness about digital education.

All students belonging to Rajalakshmi Institutions can register. Registered candidates are required to present their college ID card as proof at the venue. On-the-spot registration is NOT PERMITTED!

There are 3 prizes awarded in each category, making it 6 prizes in total. In additionl, all participants will recieve participation certificates.

Race Day

When does the event start?
The mini-marathon is scheduled to commence at 6 am sharp on 14th July, 2019. Participants are requested to report at the venue by 5:30 am.
Late comers will not be entertained, so don’t be late.

Where do I keep my bags?
Worry not, you can deposit your bags and other belongings with our volunteers, and collect it after the event completion. Try not to bring any expensive belongings though.

What do I get on D-Day?
You’ll be provided with:
1. An event T-shirt
2. Badges for identification
3. Refreshments
4. Certificates
